A Legacy Etched in Time

Chettinad

Chettinad, located in the Sivaganga district of Tamil Nadu, is a region renowned for its rich cultural heritage, opulent mansions, and unique traditions. Historically home to the prosperous Chettiar community, it flourished as a center of trade, blending indigenous Tamil craftsmanship with global influences from Burma, Sri Lanka, and Europe. The grand Chettinad mansions, built with intricate woodwork, handmade Athangudi tiles, and Italian marble, showcase a unique architectural identity.
Beyond its built heritage, Chettinad is famous for spiced cuisine, vibrant crafts, and traditional rituals, making it a significant cultural landmark. Preserving Chettinad’s legacy is crucial for future generations.
